What are ticket fees costing you? You may be surprised!

I recently had a conversation with a local venue about the ticketing platform they currently use. We started talking about fees. For one of their events, the ticket price was just $11.64. Their ticketing provider was charging $1.85 in fees per ticket: $1.50 ticketing fee $0.35 processing fee On Tixzar, the fees on that same ticket would have been approximately $1.23: $0.75 Tixzar ticketing fee Approximately $0.48 payment processing

Port Douglas Carnivale Puts Tixzar to the Test

When Tixzar was selected as the ticketing platform for the 2026 Port Douglas Carnivale, we knew it would be a fantastic opportunity to showcase what the platform could do. What we didn't expect was just how valuable the experience would be in helping us push the system to its limits and make it even better.

Why I built Tixzar

Why I built Tixzar

Tixzar isn’t built by a big corporation. It’s built by someone who’s been in the trenches. Someone who knows what it feels like to stare at spreadsheets at 2am. Someone who has loaded trucks, sold tickets, cleaned toilets, and tried to make magic happen with limited resources. I don’t want Tixzar to be “just another platform.” I want it to be something organisers feel part of. Something that grows with them. Something that actually listens. If you’ve ever felt like the system wasn’t built for you—you’re probably right.

There’s something special about Port Douglas Carnivale. It’s more than just a festival — it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and that unmistakable Far North Queensland spirit. For decades, Carnivale has brought locals and visitors together to celebrate the region through food, music, performance, and a packed calendar of events that transforms the town into one big, vibrant playground.

The Moment I Realised Something Wasn’t Right

The Moment I Realised Something Wasn’t Right

I didn’t originally set out to build a platform. I just wanted a better option — one that didn’t feel like it was punishing people for running events. But the more I looked, the more I realised the tools event organisers rely on were fragmented, expensive, and built around upsells.
